Gwaithenruin Beliefs - courtesy of Aeron Perian

Gwaithenruin reveres the gods of the Seldarine.
Corellon Larethian, "First of the Seldarine," leader of the pantheon and deity of the sun and stars;
Angharradh, Corellon's consort, second of the pantheon and primary deity of the moon;
Aerdrie Faenya, primary deity of the wind, weather, and birds and all who keep and deal with flying creatures;
Deep Sashelas, primary deity of the aquatic, and seafaring elves;
Erevan Ilesere, trickster god, god of pranksters, tricksters, jesters, unethical dealers and seller;
Fenmarel Mestarine, primary deity of elfves without a clan or conclave, and feral elves;
Gadhelyn, hero-god of independence, outlawry, feasting, and hunting;
Hanali Celanil, love goddess;
Labelas Enoreth, philosopher god;
Rillifane Rallathil, god of nature;
Sehanine Moonbow, death goddess and moon goddess also called Sehanine Lafash;
Shevarash, a demipower, risen elf and god of vengeance and retribution;
Solonor Thelandira, god of hunting;
Vandria Gilmadrith, goddess of war and grieving;
Ye'Cind, demigod of music and magical songs;
Khalreshaar, primary deity of half-elves.

Not deities but associated with the Seldarine:
Trishina, consort of Deep Sashelas;
Eilistraee, Corellon's daughter;
Zandilar, the Dancer.

They worship Corellon Larethian as the All-Father, although there is a god specifically dealing with half-elves, Khalreshaar.

The Priesthood of Gwaithenruin takes an oath of celibacy as part of dedication, an act which no other Half Elven or Full Elven family observes. This has brought general scorn upon the priesthood from other families and races, and occasionally results in scandal when one engages in unacceptable behavior. Such incidents are dealt with swiftly and harshly.

The High Forest - The Fellowship of Brothers and Sisters of the Wood - Gyssetylar beliefs, courtesy of Loraaga Gladomain

*Gyssetylar have similar beliefs to the Gwaithenruin, but are thought of a bit differently.  The main religious center for them is a extremely large tree that partly shades most of the Gyssetylar Estates.

Aerdrie Faenya She is the Winged Mother, Lady of Air, Winged Animals, and Wind. Queen of the Birds, She is recognized as a large bird with Azure Plumage and elf like features, whom seems to float.
Aerdrie's clerics dress in sky-blue robes, wearing a single feather in their hair, and conduct worship services on open hilltops.  Holy days are on the spring and fall equinoxes, and sacrifices of beautiful feathers are made to her semi-annually.

Corellon Larethian He is the Lord of the Undersea, the Dolphin Prince, the Knowledgeable One, Sailor's Friend, Know as a Dolphin tailed elf, His favored weapon is the trident. Deep Sashelas's clerics wear sea green vestments and shell mail is worshiped in undersea coral temples at the highest and lowest tides.

Elebrin LiothielMaster of the Garden, Nature, orchards and harvest.
Elebrin Liothiel is the elven god of orchards, gardens and the harvest. He is depicted as a young male elf dressed in a tunic and breeches in muted shades of gold and a cloak in the color of green spring leaves. His symbol is a chestnut on top of a leaf
Liothiel's clerics tend to the communal gardens and orchards of elven settlements while learning to harmonize with nature rather than dominating over it. His shrines are often built on simple platforms upon tall trees

Erevan IlesereHe is the elven deity of Mischief, Change, Rogues and Changelings. Erevan is a fickle, utterly unpredictable god who can change his appearance at will and have sex in  a quest to conceive and bear the unicorn god.
Erevan's clerics dress in black leather armor with leather caps, and never worship him in the same place twice. Erevan's holy days are on the eclipses, and his faithful sacrifice stolen treasures to him whenever they feel it is appropriate

Hanali Celanil She is the deity of romantic love and beauty. The Heart of Gold, Winsome Rose, Archer of Love, Kiss of Romance, Lady Goldheart.  Hanali's clerics dress in gold robes and worship her by fountains and springs. Her holy days are on the full moon, and beautiful objects are sacrificed to her monthly.

Labelas Enoreth The Lifegiver, Lord of the Continuum, the One-Eyed God, the Philosopher, the Sage at Sunset,Time, longevity. He governs the orderly passage of time and guards against those who would alter the path of history.  He oversees the long life span of the elves and their lives after they have left the mortal realms.  He is a philosopher, a patient teacher and instructor, who gives wisdom and knowledge to young and old alike Labelas' priests are responsible for educating the young and promoting and acquiring knowledge. They are also record keepers and historians. They meet in groves at sunset to pray, meditate and mark the passing of another day by sharing prayers and knowledge. His clerics typically dress in light gray robes.
His symbol is the setting sun, and his domains are chaos, elf, good, knowledge, and time.

Naralis AnalorThe Healer, the Watcher of Souls, easing of pain, death.  His symbol is a shield bearing a white dove.  Naralis Analor's primary interest is not just the safeguarding of elven souls after they depart, but also healing of the living Naralis’s worshipers are those who are concerned with keeping their fellow elves healthy, and in caring for those who are going to die.

Rillifane RallathilThe Leaflord, the Wild One, the Great Oak, the Many-Branched, the Many-Limbed, Old Man of the Yuirwood.
Rillifane Rallathil is the elven god of Nature, and patron deity of wood elves. Rillifane appears as a green-skinned elf clad in bark armor and carrying a magic bow that slays any target hit by one of its arrows. Wood elves consider Rillifane their patron deity. Wood elves that do not worship Rillifane often worship Skerrit the Forester; as the two deities are good friends, there is no conflict between their worshipers. Rillifane's clerics wear dark green vestments, tree bark armor, and a laurel wreath on their head.
Rillifane's holy days are the equinoxes. He is worshiped on tree platforms. Carved items are sacrificed to him semiannually. His sacred animals are forest birds.

Solonor Thelandira Deity of War, Keen-Eye, the Great Archer, the Forest Hunter, Archery, hunting.
Solonor  is the elven god of hunting, archery, and survival in wild and harsh places. He teaches his followers the arts of hunting; including archery, moving unseen and hiding in wild places.  His symbol is a silver arrow with green fetching, and his sacred animal is the stag.  His magical bow can fire as far as the horizon and his quiver that never empties. He hunts not to kill for killings sake but to maintain the balance of nature and to destroy evil.

His domain is near the Pale Tree, a white tree with silver leaves thought to have mystical powers Solonor is primarily revered by elven and half-elven rangers, hunters, woodsmen, and fighters. In particular, elven hunters appeal to him for better catches of game and elven warriors trapped in hostile territory call on him for aid. In recent centuries a few humans, primarily hunters, have joined his faith as well. Priests of Solonor dress in elven chainmail and silver, wearing robes with leaf-green hoods. His priests pray and meditate when the moon reaches its highest point. Services to Solonor are conducted in deep forests. Monthly sacrifices of hunting trophies are made to him.

Vandria Gilmadrith  She is one of the the gods of War, guardianship, justice, grief, vigilance, decision.   Only deity with a lawful alignment. For this reason, during times of peace she usually has fewer followers among the elves than among other races. When the elves go to war en masses, however, they turn to her for help and guidance.

Vandria's clerics work with villages to strengthen their defenses, and to help adjudicate disputes between quarreling parties. In times of war they advocate against individualism and promote unity and group tactics.

Bowman and Riccio religion.

Both clans practice the religion of Ancient Greeks and Romans where the main gods, Olympians, who live on the top of Mount Olympus, are accompanied by lesser gods and goddesses who are patrons of different areas of lives of the mortals.

Families within the two clans choose a specific god as their patron and protector. Bowman patrons are gods of war, Ares and Athena.

Afterlife: The underworld is often referred to as Hell or Hades in reference to his title as King of the dead. Hell was his place of residence, a place divided into two regions: Erebus, where the dead pass on to as soon as they die, and Tartarus a deeper region, the infernal abyss, a place of punishment for the wicked after death. Hell the underworld of Hades was a dark, dim, subterranean place, inhabited by vague forms, shadows and numerous rivers.

Somewhere in the darkness of the underworld was the palace of Hades. It is often depicted as a many-gated, dark and gloomy place, set in the midst of shadowy fields and haunted landscapes. Cerberus a fierce three-headed, dragon-tailed dog, guards the gates. Inside however, it was redolent with the treasures of the earth and thronged with his guests. From here Hades ruled his kingdom while sitting on a throne made of ebony, the scepter and badge of his office was a staff, with which he drove unrepentant souls of the dead into the lower world of Tartarus. To get to the palace was a long and perilous journey crossing the many rivers.

On death, the soul of a person was led by Hermes to the entrance of the underworld, there to be met by the aged Charon who runs the only ferry allowed the cross the rivers. Only those who could pay the fare (after death, coins and other treasures were often buried with the deceased for this purpose) would receive passage, those who couldn't pay would be trapped between two worlds. The journey would begin on the Acheron (the river of woe), down the Cocytus (the river of lamentation), into the Lethe (the river of forgetfulness), through the Phlegethon (the river of fire) and on to the Styx (the river of hate) to arrive at the gates of the palace.

The soul then enters through the gates to be met by Cerberus, who allows all souls to enter, but none to leave. The soul then appears before a panel of three judges, Rhadamanthus, Minos, and Aeacus, who review the souls past life. Those who had been good were blessed and allowed to proceed into the Elysian Fields, a happy final resting place. Those who had not were damned and abolished to Tartarus, the infernal abyss, there to forever reside in torment.

Olympians:

Aphrodite (Venus): Goddess of love and beauty. Although married to Hephaestus she had many lovers, most notably Ares. She was depicted as a beautiful woman usually accompanied by her son Eros. Her symbols include the rose, scallop shell, and myrtle wreath. Her sacred animal is the dove.

Apollo: God of music, healing, plague, prophecies, poetry, and archery; associated with light, truth and the sun. He is Artemis's twin brother and Hermes elder brother, and son of Zeus and Leto. He was depicted as a handsome, beardless youth with long hair and various attributes including a laurel wreath, bow and quiver, raven, and lyre. Apollo's sacred animal are red cattle.

Ares (Mars): God of war, blood lust, violence, manly courage, and civil order. The son of Zeus and Hera, he was depicted as either a mature, bearded warrior dressed in battle arms, or a nude beardless youth with helm and spear. His attributes are golden armor and a bronze-tipped spear. His sacred animals are the vulture, venomous snakes, alligators, and dogs.

Artemis (Diana): Virgin goddess of the hunt, wilderness, wild animals, childbirth and plague. In later times she became associated with the moon. She is the daughter of Zeus and Leto, and twin sister of Apollo. In art she was usually depicted as a young woman dressed in a short knee-length chiton and equipped with a hunting bow and a quiver of arrows. In addition to the bow, her attributes include hunting spears, animal pelts, deer and other wild animals. Her sacred animals are deer, bears, and wild boars.

Athena (Minerva): Goddess of wisdom, warfare, battle strategy, heroic endeavor, handicrafts and reason. The daughter of Zeus and Metis,she was born from Zeus's head fully-formed and armored. She was depicted crowned with a crested helm, armed with shield (Aegis), which holds Medusa's head to paralyze her enemies who looked at it and a spear.. Her symbols include the aegis and the olive tree. She is commonly shown accompanied by her sacred animal, the snowy owl.

Demeter (Ceres): Goddess of fertility, agriculture, horticulture, grain and harvest. Demeter is a daughter of Cronus and Rhea and sister of Zeus, by whom she bore Persephone. She was depicted as a mature woman, often crowned and holding sheafs of wheat and a torch. Her symbols are the Cornucopia (horn of plenty), wheat-ears, the winged serpent and the lotus staff. Her sacred animals are pigs and snakes.

Dionysus (Bacchus): God of wine, parties and festivals, madness, civilization, drunkenness and pleasure at forever young. He was depicted in art as either an older bearded god or a pretty effeminate, long-haired youth. His attributes include the thyrsus (a pinecone-tipped staff), drinking cup, grape vine, and a crown of ivy. Animals sacred to him include dolphins, serpents, tigers, panthers, and donkeys. A later addition to the Olympians, in some accounts he replaced Hestia.

Hades (Pluto): King of the Underworld and god of the dead and the hidden wealth of the Earth. His consort is Persephone and his attributes are the key of Hades, the Helm of Darkness, and the three-headed dog, Cerberus. The screech owl was sacred to him. Elder brother to Zeus.

Hephaestus (Vulcan): Crippled god of fire, metalworking, stone masonry, sculpture and volcanism. The son of Hera by parthenogenesis, he is the smith of the gods and the husband of the adulterous Aphrodite. He was usually depicted as a bearded man holding hammer and tongs—the tools of a smith—and riding a donkey. His symbols are the hammer, tongs, and anvil. His sacred animals are the donkey, the guard dog and the crane. When he was born, he was thrown off of Mount Olympus by Hera as he was considered ugly.

Hera (Juno): Queen of marriage, women, childbirth, heirs, kings and empires. She is daughter of Cronus and Rhea. She was usually depicted as a beautiful woman wearing a crown and veil and holding a royal, lotus-tipped staff. Her sacred animals are the heifer, the lion, the peacock, and the cuckoo.

Hermes (Mercury): God of travel, messengers, trade, thievery, cunning wiles, language, writing, diplomacy, athletics, and animal husbandry. He is the messenger of the gods, a psychopomp who leads the souls of the dead into Hades' realm, and the son of Zeus and Maia. He was depicted either as a handsome and athletic beardless youth, or as an older bearded man. His attributes include the herald's wand or caduceus, winged sandals, and a traveler's cap. His sacred animals are the tortoise, the ram, and the hawk.

Hestia (Vesta): Virgin goddess of the hearth, home and cooking. She is a daughter of Rhea and Cronus and sister of Zeus. She was depicted as a modestly veiled woman, whose symbols are the hearth and kettle. In some accounts, she gave up her seat as one of the Twelve Olympians to tend to the sacred flame on Mount Olympus for Dionysus.

Poseidon (Neptune): God of the sea, rivers, floods, droughts, storms, earthquakes, and horses; known as the "Earth Shaker" or "Storm Bringer". He is a son of Cronus and Rhea and brother to Zeus and Hades. In classical artwork, he was depicted as a mature man of sturdy build with a dark beard, and holding a trident. The horse and the dolphin are sacred to him.

Zeus (Jupiter): The king of the gods, the ruler of Mount Olympus and the god of the sky, weather, thunder, law, order, and fate. He is the youngest son of Cronus and Rhea, whom he overthrew after Cronus swallowed his brothers and sisters and he is brother-husband to Hera. In artwork, he was depicted as a regal, mature man with a sturdy figure and dark beard. His usual attributes are the royal scepter and the lightning bolt, and his sacred animals are the eagle and the bull.

You will find more about the religion by clicking HERE.

The Riccio's patrons were Poseidon and Hades as a warning for anyone who wished to challenge them. Castus felt that the fear of going against the king of the dead itself would cause them to not wish to fight. After Castus' death Darius changed the patron god from Hades to Hermes in honor of the newly acquired Order members now within the clan. Although many within Moretti have accepted the newly found patron, others still believe that Hades should be honored and will protect them in battle.

Bowman and Moretti FERIAE - days instituted for the sake of the gods.

ANTHESTERIA 11-13 February

The name Anthesteria is usually connected with flower of the grape. The three days of the festival were:

Pithoigia: the first day, the opening of the casks with offerings made to the god of wine. All the household, including slaves, joined in the festivities. The rooms and the drinking vessels in them were decorated with spring flowers, as were children over the age of three.

Choës: the second day was a time of partying. People dressed in bright colors, some disguised as mythical figures related to Dionysus, and visited friends. People met to organize drinking contests, the winner being the one who drained his cup most rapidly. Others poured wine on the tombs of dead relatives. For the city-state, this day was the occasion of a peculiarly solemn and secret ceremony in the sanctuary of Dionysus-in-the-marshes which was closed for all the rest of the year. A ceremonial King and Queen were chosen, and they went through a ceremony of marriage to the wine god, in which the Queen was assisted by fourteen matrons, called gerarai, chosen by the King and sworn to secrecy. The days on which the Pithoigia and Choës were celebrated were both regarded as unlucky, and so required a lot of drinking, because on these days the souls of the dead rose up from the underworld and walked among men. People chewed leaves of buck thorn and smeared tar on their doors which warded off the dead.

Chytroi: the third day was the feast of pots. Cooked food was offered to Hermes in his capacity as God of the underworld, and to the souls of the dead who were then asked to depart. None of the Olympians were included and no one tasted the food, because it was food of the dead. Although no performances were allowed at the theater, a sort of rehearsal took place, at which the players for the ensuing Dionysia were selected.

DIONYSIA 10-17 March

Dionysia celebrated the cultivation of vines. The central event was a parade bearing a wood carving of God Dionysus to the theater; young girls carried baskets, and other participants carried long loaves of bread, jars of water and wine, and other offerings. There were dancing and singing contests. Participants were dressed in red. During that time there was also a theatrical competition; tragedies, each by a different poet, but on a single theme, followed by satyrs (comedy) plays. Another parade and celebration was held on the final day, when the judges, who had been chosen by the audience, picked the winners of the tragedy and comedy performances. The winning playwrights received a wreath of ivy.

PANATHENA 23-30 July

The annual Panathenaia, the observance of Athena's birthday, included a torch race, an all-night religious service, and a meat meal for everyone at the city’s expense. The torch race involved runners carrying torches lit from the fire on the altar of Eros. The first runner one to arrive from the temple of Eros to the temple of Athena with torch still blazing was the winner and his torch was used to light the fire for the sacrifices. Women prepared a special gown for the statue of Athena. The highlight of the festival was when the parade reached the temple and the special gown was presented to Athena's wooden statue by two young priestesses. Chariot races were main attractions. Athletic games open to all followers of the Great Olympians were added to the festival every fourth year along with musical competitions and recitations of poetry. Athletic events included foot-races, a pentathlon, wrestling, and boxing, in three age categories: men, beardless youths, and boys. Horse competition were also held, including four-horse and two-horse chariot, javelin-throwing from horseback, and horse races. Winners received, among other things, olive oil said to be from the sacred olive tree of Athena. The victors in the musical contests received a vase and olive-branches.

THESMOPHORIA 11-13 October

Thesmophoria was a three-day festival. Women participating in the autumn sowing (Sporetos) festival had to fast and remain chaste for several days. The first day of the Festival was Anodos (the ascent) on which married women took all the supplies they would need for two nights and three days, climbed a hill, and built leafy shelters with couches made of plants and then slept there. The second day was the Nesteia (Fast). Besides fasting, they whipped each other with strips of bark. The third day was The Kalligeneia (Fair Offspring) recalling Demeter's torchlight search for her daughter Persephone. There was a torch light ceremony with a feast, and offerings were made to Demeter, usually corn, cakes, and figs, in the hope of a good harvest.

SATURNALIA 17-23 December

A festival in the honor of Saturn, a holiday of reconciliation and equality with the custom of giving gifts and holding feasts.

PostSubject: Re: Religion and beliefs   Religion and beliefs Icon_minitimeThu Dec 24, 2015 2:48 pm

Weavers religion is based on Norse mythology.

In Norse mythology there are 'nine worlds' of the universe:

  * Midgard, world of average human experience
  * Álfheimr, world of the Álfar (elves)
  * Svartálfaheim, world of the Svartálfar (black elves)
  * Vanaheimr, world of the Vanir
  * Muspellheim, world of fire
  * Jötunheimr, world of the jötnar
  * Niflheim, world of those who die from age or sickness
  * Asgard, world of the Æsir
  * Hel, world of the Niðavellir, netherworld

Valhalla (Heaven) is Odin's hall located in Asgard, the kingdom of gods. It was also home of the Einherjar, who were the souls of the greatest warriors. These warriors were selected by the Valkyries. The Einherjar would help defend the gods during Ragnarok (twilight of gods).

The nine worlds are connected by Yggdrasil, the world tree, a giant tree with Asgard at its top. Asgard can also be reached by Bifrost, a rainbow bridge guarded by Heimdall, a god who can see and hear throughout the whole universe.

Norse Pantheon

Odin (Woden or Wotan) was the Father of all the Gods and men, pictured either wearing a winged helm or a floppy hat, and a blue-grey cloak. He can travel to any realm within the 9 Nordic worlds. His two ravens, Huginn and Munin (Thought and Memory) fly over the world daily and return to tell him everything that has happened in Midgard. He is a God of magic, wisdom, wit, and learning. He too is a psychopomp; a chooser of those slain in battle; associated with war and bloodshed. If anything, the wars fought by Odhinn exist strictly upon the Mental plane of awareness; appropriate for that of such a mentally polarized God. He is both the shaper of Wyrd and the bender of Orlog; again, a task only possible through the power of Mental thought. It is he who sacrifices an eye at the well of Mimir to gain inner wisdom, and later hangs himself upon the World Tree Yggdrasil to gain the knowledge and power of the Runes. All of his actions are related to knowledge, wisdom, and the dissemination of ideas and concepts to help Mankind. The day Wednesday (Wodensdaeg) is named after him.

Thor (Donnar) also known as the Thunderer, was considered to be a son of Odin. He is considered to be the protector of all Midgard, and he wields the mighty hammer Mjollnir. Thor is strength personified. His battle chariot is drawn by two goats, and his hammer Mjollnir causes the lightning that flashes across the sky. Of all the deities, Thor is the most "barbarian" of the lot; rugged, powerful, and lives by his own rules, although he is faithful to the rest of the Aesir. The day Thursday (Thorsdaeg) is sacred to him.

Freya is considered to be the goddess of Love and Beauty, but is also a warrior goddess and one of great wisdom and magic. She and her twin brother Freyr are of a different "race" of gods known as the Vanir. Many of the tribes venerated her higher than the Aesir, calling her "the Frowe" or "The Lady." She is known as Queen of the Valkyries, choosers of those slain in battle to bear them to Valhalla. She, therefore, is a psychopomp like Odhinn and it is said that she gets the "first pick" of the battle slain. She wears the sacred necklace Brisingamen, which she paid for by spending the night with the dwarves who wrought it from the bowels of the earth. The cat is her sacred symbol. There seems to be some confusion between herself and Fricka, Odin's wife, as they share similar functions; but Fricka seems to be strictly of the Aesir, while Freya is of the Vanic race. The day Friday (Frejyasdaeg) was named after her.

Freyr (Fro Ingwe) is Freya's twin brother. He is the horned God of fertility. He is known as King of the Alfs (elves). The Boar is his sacred symbol, which is both associated with war and with fertility. His golden boar, "Gullenbursti", is supposed to represent the daybreak. He is also considered to be the God of Success, and is wedded to Gerda, the Jotun, for whom he had to yield up his mighty sword. At Ragnarok, he is said to fight with the horn of an elk.

Tyr (Tiw, Ziw) is the ancient god of War and the Lawgiver of the gods. He sacrifices his hand so that the evil Fenris wolf may be bound. At one time he was the leader of the Norse Pantheon, but was supplanted by Odin much later. There is nothing to indicate how this occurred; one assumes that he simply "stepped back" and let Odin assume the position of leadership. Tyr is excellent in all manners of Justice, fair play, and Right Action.

Loki, the Trickster, challenges the structure and order of the Gods, but is necessary in bringing needed change. He is also known as the god of Fire. Neither an Aesir or a Vanir, he is of the race of Ettins (Elementals) and thus possesses some daemonic qualities. He is both a helper and a foe of the Aesir; he gets them out of predicaments, but spawns the worst monsters ever seen on the face of the Earth: the Fenris Wolf and Jormurgandr, the Midgard Wyrm. His other children include the goddess Hel (Hella, Holle), and Sleipnir, Odin's 8-legged horse; these beings are at least benign, if not somewhat terrifying to behold.

Heimdall is the handsome gold-toothed guardian of Bifrost, the rainbow bridge leading to Asgard, the home of the Gods. It is Heimdall who is to sound the signal horn to the Aesir that Ragnarok, the great destruction (or transformation) is beginning.

Skadi is the Goddess of Winter and of the Hunt. She is married to Njord, the gloomy Sea God, noted for his beautiful bare feet. Supposedly the bare foot is an ancient Norse symbol of fertility. The marriage wasn't too happy, though, because she really wanted Baldur for her husband. She is the goddess of Justice, Vengeance, and Righteous Anger, and is the deity who delivers the sentence upon Loki to be bound underground with a serpent dripping poison upon his face in payment for his crimes.

Hel (Holle, Hulda), he goddess of the dead and the afterlife was portrayed by the Vikings as being half-dead, half alive herself. She is seen as Mother Holle; a being of pure Nature, being helpful in times of need, but vengeful upon those who cross her or transgress natural law.

The Norns (Urd, Verdande, and Skuld), are the Norse equivalent of the greek Fates. It is they who determine the orlogs (destinies) of the Gods and of Man, and who maintain the World Tree, Yggdrasil.

Baldur, the god of Love and Light, Odin's son, is sacrificed at Midsummer by the dart of the mistletoe, and is reborn at Jul (Yule). Supposedly his return will not occur until after the onslaught of the Ragnarok. Baldur's blind brother Hodur was his slayer, whose hand was guided by the crafty Loki.. He is married to the goddess of Joy, Nanna.

Other Gods and Goddesses include Sif (Sifa), the Harvest Goddess; Forseti, the god of Law and Justice; Bragi, the bard of the Gods and muse of Poetry; Weiland (Weyland), the Smith of the Gods, Idunna, the goddess of Youth and Beauty; Vidar and Vali, the sons of Odin who will survive Ragnarok; Magni and Modi, the sons of Thor; Eostre, the goddess of Spring and of fertility, Hoenir, the messenger of the Aesir; Sunna and Mani, the Sun and Moon; Ullr, the God of the Hunt; and Nerthus, Goddess of the Sea and of Rivers.

Elder Futhark Runes

Weavers use Elder Ruthark Runes for divination. The runes consist of 24 letters that represent a hidden meaning in hands of a skilled interpreter. The method of casting lots is a simple one: cut a branch from a fruit-bearing tree and divide it into small pieces and mark them with certain distinctive signs and scatter at random onto a white cloth. Then, the priest of the community if the lots are consulted publicly, or the father of the family if it is done privately, after invoking the gods and with eyes raised to heaven, picks up three pieces, one at a time, and interprets them according to the signs previously marked upon them.

Made from natural oak branches with bark still on them each rune is specially burnt with a Futhark Symbol. Only natural stains are used to cure the rune, no varnish or unnatural substances can be used. Each branch is harvested with permission during the month of Samhains and tempered by the element of fire, water, earth, air, and time. Each set of runes is cut from the same branch in order to assure continuity. Furthermore each set includes at least one rune to have a naturally occurring pentagram, evidence of the magic in the tree.

Odin hung from the world tree, Yggdrasil, impaled on his own spear, for nine days and nights in order to gain the knowledge of runes. When the runes appeared below him, he reached down and took them up, and the runic knowledge gave him power. He later passed on this knowledge to the Vanir goddess Freya. Heimdall, the god who guarded the Rainbow Bridge, taught the runes to mankind.

Religion of the Prime followed by the Lughnor Clan and the Temple of Light.

According to legends the religion of Prime started in Topeli and from there was brought to Rhodd Duw and Argona. Followers of the Prime believe in one God called Altus, the creator of everything, who communicates with his believers through the sacred Scripture.

The rules of the religion are as follows:

1. Cherish Altus (through masses, prayer and fasting)
2. Honor thy parents
3. You shall not kill
4. You shall not steal
5. You shall not lie
6. Await the messiah
7. Altus shall bless prophecy and mysticism to the worthy
8. Altus shall resurrect the dead

In the past Prime was very strict, with its holy city of Rhodd Duw and Argona, Septons tried to spread their beliefs by the use of tyranny. During the Septon War in which Septons hoped to size Umbra, Mace Lughnor (Septon Porro at that time) decided to turn against the Septon High's cruelty and aided the Mage Kingdom. He managed to start a new Temple in Enedost which offered food and shelter to the poor as well as school for war orphans. Soon a great number of Enedostians converted to Prime.

While Rhodd Duw and Argona are still more traditional and follow the ways of the co-called Old Prime, Lughnor changed constitutions of the brotherhood and created a more liberal New Prime in Umbra.

The leaders of the Prime are:
High Septon - Mace Lughnor (Umbra)
Porro - Nathan Morris (Rhodd Duw)
Athair - Jeremy Balik (Umbra)
Head Arwein - Adler Arn (Argona)

Prime titles and names:
High Septon - leader of all septons/knights
Porro - most trusted of the High Septon, second in command
Athair - leader of Knights in Umbra
Arwein - head septon of a province
Brodurr - an assistant to positioned septons
Septon/Septoness - a clergyman and follower of the Old Prime
Knight/Dame - a clergyman and follower of the New Prime
Sagart - a clergyman who can perform rites
Uxor - wife of the High Septon
Marw - septons destined to die for Altus
Em drysors - soul gems
Rhodd Duw - the holy city
Ortus and Fridio - former farms for Septon children
Sagart -a clergyman who can perform rites

All Septon/Prime/Altus Knights names have been taken from Irish.

Festivals and celebrations:
Noce Świateł (Nights of Light)
Shrovetide - the last day of carnival, also known as Lina Karo's Donut Feeding to Knights Day.

Keys of Hades: Bowmans believe that one of the attributes of Hades, the God of the Underworld, are two keys which have the power to seal or free people in the Underworld or Tartarus.

In the Enedostian Temple of Hades, there are two made of gold adorned with gems but they are fake. The legendary keys are in the hands of a private collector within the clan; those keys are made of cypress (the sacred tree symbolizing Hades) and copper (material used for making obolus, a coin that Bowmans leave in the mouth of the dead so that he/she can pay Charon for the passage/boat ride down the river Styx or Acheron).
