History:

Nathan was from the Manannan city of Nibenon, along the gulf that led from the ocean to the Sea of Dagrau. Septon control had been a part of the life here for years, the Septons allowing the villagers to live in exchange for aiding them in navigating and operating in the frigid land. The way the Septons maintained control was by taking a child from a family and both holding it hostage and raising it to serve the Septon purpose. This was especially true if the child were a Marked one. They slew adults who bore the Mark, though.

Nathan had shown to posess an aptitude at Conjuration. He was taunted by other boys who were primarily Evokers, making fun of his talents and lumping him in with Enchanters, which they called 'girly' behind the backs of their Septon governors. He responded by turning deeper into the Septon religion, losing himself among its teachings and tenets. In that, he realized that those who made fun of him were showing that they had not truly given themselves to Altus, and that they may have to be punished later on.

Nibeon is built on a high escarpment of rock. The winds are constant, ranging from merely cool in the summer to brutally frigid in the winter. As a child, Nathan had a fascination with the wind and flying. Paper was a rare commodity, but pieces of tanned hide were attainable. Nathan beat skins out to paper-thinness, and dried them to a crisp firmness on stones set in a fire. From these hard skins, he would build fashion by folding what he called 'birds' because they had wings and could glide on the air currents. He once took a large skin, tied it to a pair of sticks set in a cross formation, then attached a gut string to it and make what would be called elsewhere a 'kite'. This he flew in the never-ending wind.

When he was taken to Rhodd Duw, he did not have the constant winds to play with, but there were frequent breezes. He told his classmates that, back home, the light winds would be called 'keanu', which meant 'breeze'. That became his nickname, one that was meant to taunt him. He kept it secret, and his pride would not let him show that he was bullied.

When Claire Franklin, who was High Septon when he had been made Brodurr to the Porro, was slain, Nathan becamie acting Porro when Dane Fembringer, the real Porro, acted as High Septon. Upon Dane's resignation after naming former Septon Mace Lughnor as High Septon, Nathan was officially installed in the position of Porro. Some of his former taunters were still alive and still serving Altus in Rhodd Duw. They would not call him 'Keanu' any more after his promotion.
